Wedding Day

Today my son married his sweetheart.
In keeping with their unfussy wedding 'everything' I decided to forgo all the formal type of cards and make a quirky twisted easel card with a pocket for the messages. I used a black and white colour scheme dictated by the delightful card stock I had in my stash - little birdies and 'I do's" all over it. The Martha Stewart punch suited the simplicity of the card and a fabulous stamp from Justrite complimented the card. On top of the pocket I placed some 'dictionary' card with love themes on it.
The insert has a poem for Carolyn on the one side:

We wanted to tell you on this day
How much you mean to us
And welcome you with open arms
into our family

It was so easy for us to see
Right from the very start
The special way you loved our son
The kindness in your heart

Thank you for the happiness
you have brought into his life
I know that he is very proud
to have you as his wife

And on the day that you shall wed
How happy we will be
For our son will gain a loving wife
And a daughter will be given to us

And the other side of the card is for Neil:

Today dear Son, as you walk down the aisle
You’ll see all the faces wearing a smile.
But as we remember those young tender years
Our smiles will conceal a few hidden tears.
They’re not tears of sorrow, but tears full of joy
As we’re both thinking back to our dear little boy
And now you have grown up and made us so proud
As you smile for the camera and the rest of the crowd
Remember dear Neil as you take your new wife
You’re still very much a part of our life!
We’re gaining a daughter, not losing a son

You’re new lives as husband and wife have begun
So be blissfully happy and enjoy your ‘Big Day”

Have a wonderful marriage
with blessings all the way!

How blessed we are!
