Baby Card

This adorable card accompanied the equally adorable Harper to Cape Town this week. Take a look at the Moz Bearz page to read all about Harper.

I used new card stock - to me, anyway. It is super smooth and a lovely heavy weight with matching paper for the insert. It is called Masunga.

I delved into my scraps for all the patterned paper to tone in with the cute Hero Arts Teddy  that I colored with Copic's, to match sweet Harper.

The sentiment is from PTI and one of my favorites. The scallop is punched with an EK Success border punch and the circles cut with Nesties.

Thanks for the visit!

I have entered this card into the challenge # 20 Maybe Baby at the In The Pink Blog

Using Scraps and Stash

Sugar Creek Hollow's Challenge #61 is Scraps and Stash and the DT were asked to get 'Creative'.

For me, it meant that I was to find almost everything in a 'used' or 'left over' state and put them together in a project. I needed a Sympathy card so used this as a starting point, and also went looking for a sketch which I followed loosely.

The image was stamped in brown and I colored it in using Distress Inks and softened the starkness of the cream card with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The background paper was just big enough for me to cut the square, with enough left over for me to use the flip side and punch the scallop edge, which I also distressed with ink, lightly. A scrap of lace just fitted across this border so I attached it and added a few pearls to the scallop centers.

I also found a Doily that had been pre-cut and used that behind the image, to partially show on the left side, as the right side was embellished with a die cut using the leftover strip of the mount card I had found. I used 4 metal corners, painted, out of my stash. The sentiment was stamped onto a pre-cut tag and distressed with ink to soften the starkness of the cream.
The inside of the card with a lovely
uplifting verse.

For me, this was a challenge that I tackled, determined not to break out anything new and was very chuffed with myself having achieved a pretty card, playing by the rules.

Please pop over to my teams blogs - links on the right of this post - and check out their creativity. I hope this inspires you to enter our challenge!

Using Offcuts

The other card we made in class last week used off cuts of card stock and a great set of stamps from Stampers Anonymous called Mixed Media CMS125.

Using the differrent designs in this set, we stamped them onto the card with Distress Ink Forrest Moss and punched squares out then rounded opposite corners on all four squares.

They were then mounted onto a background that was several shades darker than the base card and again rounded the opposite corners of this card and the base card.

The Hero Arts Stamp Set, 'Truly Appreciated' was selected for the sentiment.

A perfect card to use up scraps and one does not even need to stamp, just use patterned card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Father's Day Vintage Car Card

In class last week we  made this card for Father's Day.

Two different die sets were used on the card:
Sizzix 'All About A Boy' and Marianne Design  LR0197 - Vintage Cars.

We die cut the cars and used Wlanut Stain Distress Ink on the car whilst it was still in the die, to give it definition. Likewise with the Arrows on the front of the card.

The inside of the card had a flap that I laced the sentiment panels onto using eyelets and string.

The cars were matched to their 'other half' on the front, both in location and direction.

The picture on the right shows the flap down and the Father's Day greeting.

It was a fun card to make and I know some Dad's will be thrilled to receive it on their special day!

Thanks so much for the visit!

Playing with Distress Inks

In class last month we worked (played) with Distress Inks on water color paper and turned our 'creations' into two projects.
Having made this one A5 sheet up using the inks I managed to get both these projects out of it.

It is such a worthwhile exercise preparing some sheets so that they are ready to go in a minute, if you have an unexpected request or need for a card.

This project started off as a C6 envelope that eventually converted into a card/envelope for a gift voucher or cash. A nifty idea for teens, who prefer this kind of gift anyway.

The Happy Birthday stamp used here, is a Papermania stamp I bought from Country Crafts last year and it was it's first inking up and colored with Distress Inks.

I die cut the two inner cards and attached them, so one could write your messages on them.

The card below was made using the left over piece from the above project and I punched out the flower and wrapped ribbon around it before matting it onto black, then white and finally onto the black card.  The 'thanks' was die cut with a Cuttlebug die and attached. A very quick card.

These colors are so vibrant, I just love them and the Distress Range has a total convert now. I have no doubt that they will be foremost in my mind when it comes to 'color'!!

Thanks for popping in and catching up on my crafty endeavors!

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge # 60- Spring Flowers

This is my first Design Team assignment for Sugar Creek Hollow and the challenge is "Spring Flowers".It starts today, 4th May 2013 and runs for two weeks.

Our sponsor for this challenge is our very own Heather A. Hudson a.k.a. "My Artistic Adventures". Heather has an Etsy store where she sells her amazing designs. Please do pop over for a visit at her store

If you love Vintage and Shabby Chic, you will find images that will delight you! Heather is sponsoring 3 COLLAGE SHEETS from her Etsy Shop as the Random Winner Prize from all the entries received in this challenge, so please, get creating and link your entry at Sugar Creek Hollows blog!

Here is my take on 'Spring Flowers' using the Collage Sheet from Heather. I decided to stay with the hearts theme that the sheet presented and made a card that could be used for a Spring Wedding or Engagement.

I decided to make a pocket card with a tag insert. The pocket inner was stamped with a script stamp and the edges were distressed and inked with the same color.
I knew I had to use lace to compliment this lovely image and was thrilled to find this stunning piece of lace in my lace box. It is so soft and pretty and suited the project perfectly. I attached the lace to the front of the pocket and flapped the top corner of the pocket over and secured it underneath the large heart, that had been distressed and mounted onto a scalloped heart shaped mat.
The top and side edge of the pocket was decorated with a heart border die and a few mini pearls were added to them. I created the stick pin using a heart shaped pearl pin threaded with seam binding, a rose and several small pearls, and attached it to the heart. A couple of extra die cuts adorned  the card.
The sentiment is from set I've had in my stash for years and it was perfect for this card.
A close up of the heart and the lace on the tag.
Using a tag gave me the opportunity to use the smaller hearts on the collage sheet. I backed the tag with a doily die cut which is one of my favorite dies. The tag was also trimmed with paper lace around the edge, seam binding and a rose that had some 'Stickles' treatment, at the top of the tag.

The tag top.
The pocket card with the tag peeping out of it!
