Vintage Father's Day Card

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge # 62 calls for Father's Day cards. This challenge runs for two weeks starting today, 1st June and we would love to have you join us by entering your creation.

For my card, I decided to go with the age old favorite for men, vintage cars and to include a tag in the layout.

The background paper was a scrap of a 'dictionary' script and I found the reverse of the page very suitable to use as well, so I split it, inked and distressed it. I covered the join with a strip of burlap type ribbon.
I went all out with inks on the tag and added a couple of subtle background stamps as well. The image is from a Darkroom Door set I have and I stamped it onto the tag and stamped again onto scrap, colored and cut it out and mounted over the stamped image on the tag, so that some of the background car showed through, creating a 3D effect. I die cut gears and arrows, inked and distressed them and mounted with a screw top brad, through the tag and attached the tag to the background card. The sentiment is computer generated, inked and distressed and also attached to the background with eyelets and I then attached it all to the card front using eyelets.

Supplies used on this card:
  • Darkroom Door DDRS033 Vintage Automobiles
  • Sizzix 659103 Thinlits - All About A Boy Dies
  • Compass Stamp - unknown
  • Distress Inks - Walnut Stain, Gathered Twig, Vintage Photo, Shabby Shutter
  • Memento Ink - Cocoa
This week on Sugar Creek Hollow, we have a Guest Designer Ragnhild Øren. She is an amazing artist with such a great eye for 'Vintage' and 'Shabby Chic' designs. Please do visit her blog and enjoy her lovely creations!

This weekend we have the wonderful Comrades Marathon being run from Durban to my home town, Pietermaritzburg. A road race of 90 kilometers, that is the ultimate test of endurance for so many from around the world. Our weather is particularly warm for this time of the year and for most it is going to be a very 'hot' run. My husband ran it 8 times, completing 7 of them. Something to be extremely proud of. Wishing all runners an enjoyable run and a glorious finish!

Have a wonderful week and I look forward to visiting your blogs to see your entries into this challenge!
Please pop in and visit my teamies - links in the sidebar, to see their amazing creations.

Thrilled to have you visit. Till next time....
