Summer in the Sun!

This week at Sugar Creek Hollow, our challenge is, "Your Flag Colors"

Now this was a challenge for me, as our South African flag has very strong, bright colors and I had a hard time bringing them into a Vintage/Shabby card! This is what I ended up with, and I was actually very pleased with the result! I hope you enjoy it as well.......

I used an image from The Digital Collage Studio, called Bathing Beauties. It was the red and green bathing costume that caught my eye and from then on, it was easy to put it together.

The postage stamp is of our flag!
Somehow, going with a postcard seemed the obvious choice and I found this embossing folder in my stash!

Also hiding away at the bottom of the box as this sheet of 'sea sand' paper. What better way to bring it all together by using these tiny shells I'd been hoarding forever!

Behind the flag I placed a die cut clock face, that had been treated to a little bit of 'Gesso". I had hoped it would indicate time as a restful occasion.

Of course, yellow had to be introduced and what better way than in a flower?

I die cut the Memory Box Bingham Heart die out of green card and split it down the center and wrapped it around the 'postcard'. I also cut the heart out of red, white and yellow and trimmed off the flowers to add to the 'vine'.

The little bits of muslin peeping out of the sides of the postcard just seemed to follow the 'sea side' theme through perfectly!

Please go and take a look at my teamies amazing creations. Links to their blogs are on my side bar. Such inspiration and don't forget, we have a guest designer from Croatia - Sanja Grdinic , who was selected from our April Top Picks! Please do visit her blog and see her exquisite creation.

I find it quite a coincidence that whilst showcasing our South African flag, we are all waiting anxiously on news of Mr Nelson Mandela, who has been in and out of hospital for some time and is on the critical list. The news is not good, sadly, and all we can do is pray that God will smile upon him and when it is his time, God will lift him up gently and take him to a better place. Our prayers are with Mr Mandela and his family at this time.

Wishing you all a blessed, creative week and I'm looking forward to seeing all your creations in response to this challenge!
